Now, this might not concern some of you, but, according to many health experts, not washing your bed sheets regularly can lead to skin conditions like allergies and rashes.

How Often Should You Wash Your Bed Sheets? How Long Is Too Long?

Here is a rough guide to what you need to follow.

Most experts suggest you wash your bed sheets every two weeks or more if needed.

What if you soil your sheets due to bedroom activities or health issues? Then you should probably do it once a week or more. Once again, it depends on how often you get your bed dirty.

Some of you might be allergic to dust mites. Like I said, you will have to wash your sheets at least once a week, sometimes more. One thing you will have to keep in mind is the water temperature.

You will need to use water of at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit. It has to be very hot to kill the germs.

What about the pillows?

Yes, you will also have to wash your pillow. You should fine if you wash your pillows and cases at least once every six months. It depends on how bad your dust mite issue is or your allergies. The more severe your allergies, the more you will need to wash.

1) Always pay attention to the instructions on your sheets. Most sheets can be washed and dryed using a conventional washer and dryer. However, you might have specialty sheets(aka:designer sheets,etc) at home. You will have to pay close attention to those instructions on the label and package.

2) Please wash your sheets in the hottest water available. Take note of the maximum level the heat can go up to on the label.

For instance, polyester sheets can be washed in the warm water. Cotton should be washed using the hottest water level possible. Always take the water temperature before proceeding. Make sure you did not go above or below what is instructed.
